“Change” – Giles Allen-Bowden

When I was three
Adventure was swing sets
Flashing lights, snowfall
And finding dinosaur bones.

When I was six
Adventure was desert trails
Cowboy camps, burger treats
And the inviting ocean blue.

When I was twelve
Adventure was video games
Stories, pride in solitude
And escaping school every day.

When I was fifteen
Adventure was in music
Screaming concerts, maybe girls
And finding my true people.

When I was eighteen
Adventure was all goodbyes
Leaving schoolrooms, finding myself
And becoming someone strange.

Now I am twenty-one
Adventure is madness
Knowing nothing is certain
And I love it to bits.
